CARMEL VALLEY RESIDENCE 1

New construction on a magnificent site was influenced by the clients’ love of International Design and the Case Study homes from mid century. Passive solar heating, radiant heat in the concrete floors and a fresh air recovery system are some of the eco friendly concepts utilized. The palette consists of concrete, satin aluminum, honed black granite, glass and vertical grained Douglas fir. All public areas are open to each other separated by 4 foot high petitions or islands. The dining room table was custom made with the legs having a live edge. The table top is etched glass which is used extensively throughout the home. The biggest surprise is the in ground koi pond at the entry near the dining area. The kitchen consists of one wall of floor to ceiling cabinets, a working island and another island/table flanked dish storage cabinets. One side of the working island is for food preparation and contains a sink, cooktop, warming drawer, refrigerator, TV, freezer and working garage pantry. The other side of the island is for cleanup and consists of another sink, dishwasher and easy access to dish storage. This side also contains a rolling caddy for transporting food and dishes to the dining table.
